Sanu Devi, a woman from the Hanuman Nagar settlement in Patna, has faced extraordinary hardships in her life. After her marriage, dowry-related violence shattered her home—her husband abandoned her, and society turned away. Yet, instead of giving up, Sanu chose to turn her struggles into strength.
Earning just ₹2,500 a month as a cleaner, she fought to survive with dignity. But in 2020, the COVID-19 lockdown brought another devastating blow—she lost her job, her income disappeared, and survival became a daily challenge.
In this darkest phase, Dalit Vikas Abhiyan Samiti (DVAS) became a ray of hope. The organization not only provided essential support like food and healthcare but also reignited her lost confidence and belief in a better future.
In 2022, Sanu joined the Savitri Bai Phule Digital Learning Hub, where she gained digital literacy and entrepreneurial skills. With a small financial support of ₹25,000, she started her own bangle and cosmetics shop, which has now grown into a registered street vendor enterprise.
Today, Sanu Devi is a self-reliant digital entrepreneur. She earns ₹1,500–₹2,500 daily, accepts digital payments, and connects with customers through online platforms.
But her greatest achievement goes beyond income—
she has become a source of inspiration and a mentor for other women in her community. She now empowers them with the belief that technology, confidence, and opportunity can break every barrier.
